A warm welcome to Jane Shepherd Counselling

“It really is okay to take the time to look after your mental health and well-being, to have that safe, confidential space to talk about the issues that are concerning you. There are times we all need someone to talk to, who will really listen without judgement, accepting you and your experience”

Jane

People may come to counselling for many reasons:

  • Feeling anxious, low in mood or stressed
  • Problems with relationships
  • Low self-confidence or self-esteem
  • Feeling confused, lost or unhappy
  • Experiencing difficulties at work
  • A sense that something is just not feeling right for you
  • Often thinking of past events still causing you pain today
  • A bereavement or other type of loss such as a beloved pet a purpose, job or relationship?

The counselling space is yours to explore what you need to, in your own time. I don’t have an agenda. I will be guided by what you need to talk about, when you wish to talk about it. I am always there to listen to whatever your experience is.

When the other person is hurting, confused, troubled, anxious, alienated, terrified; or when he or she is doubtful of self-worth, uncertain as to identity-then understanding is called for. The gentle and sensitive companionship offered by an empathic person… provides illumination and healing. In such situations deep understanding is, I believe, the most precious gift one can give to another.”CARL ROGERS
A WAY OF BEING, HOUGHTON MIFFLIN, 1980: 160-161
