How I work

The humanistic counselling approach believes in the individual as a whole, everyone is unique, capable of making their own decisions.

The humanistic approach

What is counselling about?

Counselling is built on the relationship between counsellor and client. Having a space where you feel listened to, accepted and understood can create the safety needed to explore difficult thoughts, feelings and experiences. Many of the people I work with have spent years coping on their own, putting others first, or living with patterns that no longer serve them. Sometimes these patterns have roots in earlier life experiences and can affect how we see ourselves, relate to others, and respond to the challenges of adult life.

Through the therapeutic relationship, we can begin to make sense of these experiences together. As understanding grows, there is often greater freedom to make choices that feel more authentic and more in keeping with who you are today. As human beings, we are wired for connection. The therapeutic relationship provides a consistent and supportive space in which exploration, healing and personal growth can take place. As human beings, we are wired for connection. Why work with me?

I value depth, curiosity and genuine human connection.

My work is often with people who have been carrying difficult feelings or experiences for a long time. They may have become used to putting others first, dismissing their own needs, or believing they simply need to “get on with it”.

I believe lasting change comes not from being told what to do, but from being understood. By building a trusting therapeutic relationship, we can begin to explore what has shaped you, what may be holding you back, and what you need moving forward. I am interested in understanding the person behind the difficult feelings and experiences you’ve had.

Therapy can help you make sense of your experiences and develop a kinder relationship with yourself. I don’t rush people, we’ll go at your pace and I will stay along side you.

My aim is to offer a space where you can feel accepted as you are, while also supporting you to make meaningful changes in your life.
